WORLDS ABOVE With Josie

The queen is back with another colourful capsule collaboration. The mastermind behind our best selling Sweet West collection has created 2 new cowgirl characters for this season. We had a chat with Josie about everything she has been up to since the last time we spoke.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING SINCE YOUR LAST CAPSULE WITH US?

Lots of commissions!

 

TALK US THROUGH YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS FOR THIS CAPSULE - WHERE DO YOU START?

For starters, I try and consume as much art as I can! From exhibitions, interior design, vintage comics to film. All my work with you guys has drawn heavily from vintage comics, specifically the cowgirls! (Yee Haw) 

 

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE FROM THE COLLECTION & WHY?

I absolutely love the cowgirl who has spilled her bucket of stars. She’s cute, cheeky, and clumsy. I don’t know exactly what she’s up to. How she stumbled across a bucket of stars. Or what she plans to do with them. Regardless, she seems like a fun time. 

 

WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING ART, WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU?

I’m probably yapping at my local cafe. Or looking at someone else’s art. Or both. 

WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING PROJECT YOU’VE WORKED ON?

There are a few! But I have to say my last capsule with you guys. I saw a TikTok on ‘Man Repellent dressing’, and one of the outfits featured my cowgirl tee. I feel like that’s pretty hard to beat. 

 

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF CREATING THIS CAPSULE WITH vanderfordsbookshelf?

To be honest - just collaborating with you guys again. It makes me proud to be associated with such a kick-ass Australian label. Plus, it’s pretty cool walking down the street (or scrolling TikTok) and seeing a stranger wearing my design.
